We are seeking 2️⃣ highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join my team for a project focused on the development of hydrological applications (floods, droughts, landslides, agriculture) at regional and global scales through the use of satellite observations and advanced modelling. The successful candidate will work on ESA and European Commission projects at
the Hydrology Next laboratory of CNR - IRPI.

The position is available for one year, with the possibility of extension. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research with significant implications for extreme events prediction, water resource management and climate change adaptation.

I’m excited to announce openings for PhD students in my lab at the Department of Wood Science, UBC, starting next September. Our research focuses on sustainable technologies for biomass utilization. Current projects include:

- Deep eutectic solvent-assisted biomass fractionation

- Green solvent-based extraction and functionalization of CNC for advanced materials

- (Potentially) Lignin chemistry and its applications (NOT catalyst research)

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Research experience in relevant topics is preferred
- Proficiency in English (minimum IBT 100, IELTS 7.0)

PhD Positions Opening: Global Change Ecology

The Meng Lab at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Vanderbilt University is seeking 1 fully funded Ph.D. student interested in Global Change Ecology. Starting date is Fall 2025. The Meng Lab aims to answer key ecosystem questions: How do climate change and human activities affect terrestrial ecosystems? We study the response of plants to climate changes and human activities such as urbanization and deforestation. We are also interested in carbon and water cycles in terrestrial ecosystems regulated by vegetation dynamics.
Research topics for prospective Ph.D. students are open in the field of global change ecology, urban ecology, and tropical ecosystems and will be determined by Dr. Meng and the student.

Qualifications: strong quantitative programming skills and solid background in global change ecology, vegetation remote sensing, and land surface processes. Proficiency in spoken/written English.

Role: PhD Position in "Data assimilation to integrate satellite observations into biogeochemical models"

🔬Your Mission: Earth system models are essential for predicting climate change, simulating components like the ocean and atmosphere. A key element is marine biogeochemistry, which impacts carbon cycling. All models have uncertainties in initial states, parameters, and processes. This PhD position focuses on improving ocean biogeochemistry simulations (e.g., nutrients, plankton, carbon) by developing machine learning methods for ensemble-based data assimilation and applying them to an ocean biogeochemical model. A special focus will be on using optical satellite observations, which provide rich information.

The doctoral researcher will join the Data Assimilation group, working at the intersection of methodology and real-world model applications. This position is part of the MarDATA | Helmholtz School for Marine Data Science, offering interdisciplinary research and collaboration with experts in mathematics, marine biogeoscience, and remote sensing.
