An advantage of the apparent focus on deporting 'the worst first' is positive optics, allowing for greater operation in otherwise difficult locales. ICE will have a firmer presence in the Midwest, California, New York; collateral catches and 'without charges' arrests will rise—Florida and Texas have added their state forces to the effort.
While tariffs will help pressure Canada into securing the Northern border, Mexico the Southern, and push countries like Guatemala, Venezuela, India, et. al. to accept their trash back, domestic decisions will determine what volume and at what speed removal occurs.
Noem's DHS aims to redirect IRS agents toward arrest & remove aliens. DOGE, which has been impressively successful, must next allocate force and funds into facilitating bigger, better removal efforts. Our Defense Budget, no longer to be wasted on meddling with Europe or dying in the Middle East, has plenty of money for this.

Study from 1916 finds that mass deportation is more cost effective, from a financial, hygienic, and racial standpoint, than attempts to mass retain or 'assimilate' aliens, many of whom are poor performers in all ways. This survey is the same as today's. Deporting, not absorbing, is how you deal with foreigners.
A successful polemic against mass migration, as true today as it was back then: reject the notion of foreign 'workers' doing jobs we should care about, disregard idealistic proposals of assimilation, and be indifferent to, or reverse, moralist opposition. We are right, act knowing we always were.
