The FDA didn't reverse anything. They simply are allowing companies to use alternative colouring on the grounds that the company stops using petroleum-based or barely edible synthetic dyes. Companies can use naturally-derived dyes to achieve the artificial colour they want, if they agree to cut out the worst options first.
