Si addormenta nel parco, giardiniere passa col tosaerba e la travolge: morta mamma di 27 anni https://perma.cc/24FG-87HE
This is just a good example that there are different type of crimes, not just because you are killing someone, means we need to treat such people in the same way ...

We need to be honest. There is type and type of prison too.

In Norway, formal education in prison includes primary and secondary school, work qualifying courses, vocational training, and tertiary studies.

This study has demonstrated that education in prison has contributed to social benefits, self-determination, and accountability by enabling the ex-prisoners to improve their mastery and self-esteem. Many of the respondents cited the education as significant, but they also highlighted other elements that were even more important. They emphasized the feeling of mastering something, avoiding stigmatization, getting motivation for further studies, showing willingness to do something with their lives, got into a process of change, change in attitude, a belief in getting a new life, to be valuable for others, do something for others, personal strength, recognition and pride.

We can see that more money is used for prisoners, less incarceration and recidivism rate we get. This is not always the case, Sweden has 2x more recidivism, even if they spend more money compared to GDP. Spain is another example, low recidivism, without spending too much (less than GDP, compared to Norway, spending 2x GDP ...).

So the topic is huge complex, and we don't want to investigate that in details, but it's important to notice that Norway still spend A LOT OF MONEY for prisoners and they have for sure no money issues ... so such things cannot be applied in all countries ... Plus criminality is higher in poor countries, just think about America Latina / El Salvador and other factors should be considered ...
