Sources told Reuters and internal planning documents show Venezuela is arming itself and preparing either guerrilla-style resistance or efforts to create chaos if the US launches an air or ground assault.

The guerrilla campaign, described by the government as "prolonged resistance" and referenced on state TV, would deploy small forces at more than 280 sites to carry out sabotage and other irregular tactics, according to the sources and planning papers.

A second approach, labeled "anarchization," would rely on intelligence agencies and armed supporters of the ruling party to foment street disorder in Caracas and render the country ungovernable for foreign forces, one government source and an opposition-linked source said.

Former Al-Qaeda chief and self-appointed Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa visited Washington on 10 November, where he held talks with US President Donald Trump at the White House and met with top International Monetary Fund (IMF) officials.

During the trip, the Syrian president secured a new extension for the suspension of US Caesar Act sanctions issued earlier this year, while formally entering his country into Washington’s ‘anti-ISIS’ coalition in Syria.

This was the first visit of a Syrian head of state to Washington since the country gained independence from France in 1946, and marks a major turning point in Syrian–US relations following the 14-year, US-backed war to oust former president Bashar al-Assad.

Sharaa’s landmark trip to Washington focused on several issues, including investment opportunities in Syria, “so that Syria is no longer looked at as a security threat,” Sharaa told Fox News after the meeting. “It is now looked at as a geopolitical ally. And it’s a place where the United States can have great investments, especially extracting gas,” he added.

“It is clear through the policies of Mr. Trump that he is in favor of the stability of Syria and the territorial unity, and the lifting, the complete lifting of sanctions on Syria. So, he is pushing in that direction,” Sharaa, once known as Abu Mohammad al-Julani, told the Washington Post after his meeting in the White House.

Satellite imagery reviewed by BBC Verify reveals that Israel has demolished more than 1,500 buildings in Gaza areas it continues to occupy since the so-called ceasefire began on 11 October. Entire neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble in less than a month, suggesting a systematic campaign of destruction rather than reconstruction or withdrawal.

Analysts warn the demolitions breach the US-brokered “ceasefire”, which explicitly prohibits further military operations. Yet an Israeli military spokesperson claimed the actions were “in accordance with the ceasefire framework,” a statement that defies both logic and the images of flattened civilian areas.

The policy bears the imprint of US President Donald Trump’s so-called “peace plan,” which promised to end the war but has instead allowed Israel to continue punitive operations under the guise of security which has resulted in dozens killed and injured across Gaza.

In the formal letter, Trump describes Benjamin Netanyahu, who has presided over the mass killing of Palestinians in Gaza and the deliberate starvation of children, as a leader "now guiding Israel into a time of peace."

Netanyahu is currently facing charges of fraud, bribery, and breach of trust in three separate cases that date back to Trump’s first term. The pardon requested by Trump pertains specifically to these legal cases, and not to any of Netanyahu’s actions in Gaza, despite the widespread and ongoing crimes being committed.

In response, Herzog expressed gratitude for Trump’s show of support but clarified that "anyone seeking a pardon must submit a formal request in accordance with established procedures."

❗️Macron pledges to help PA draft constitution for future Palestinian state

France hosted Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas in Paris on Tuesday, where French President Emmanuel Macron pledged to assist the PA in drafting a constitution for a future Palestinian state.

Macron said France and the PA would form a joint committee to develop a new framework for statehood.

“This committee will be responsible for working on all legal aspects: constitutional, institutional and organizational,” Macron told reporters, noting that Abbas had already shared an initial draft of a potential constitution.

He also announced that France would provide 100 million euros ($116.62 million) in humanitarian aid to Gaza in 2025.
