The Times of Israel quoted Ila Metzger last month: "The Israeli government gave up on the abductees and abandoned them to die in Hamas captivity!” Ila Metzger, whose 80-year-old father-in-law Yoram Metzger is held in Gaza, said in opening remarks. “As long as [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu is in power, the hostages will not return.”
Einav Zangauker, whose son Matan was taken captive from Kibbutz Nir Oz, similarly accused the government of “giving up on the hostages.”
“The government is giving up on the hostages, the government is leading the entire country to destruction,” she said, appealing for Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and war cabinet members Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot to “bring down the government.”

US Warns Dual Citizens Will Be Stuck in Ukraine Under Mobilization Law
Ukrainian men ages 18-60 with American citizenship cannot leave
On Tuesday, the US Embassy in Ukraine issued a warning to US-Ukrainian dual citizens that they may no longer be able to leave Ukraine under the country’s new mobilization law.
Under martial law that was imposed in February 2022, Ukrainian males ages 18 to 60 cannot leave the country. Before the new mobilization law took effect, there were exceptions for dual US-Ukrainian nationals, but now they can be forced to stay.
“The US Embassy in Kyiv understands that, effective June 1, Ukraine has eliminated a ‘residence abroad’ exception that previously allowed certain Ukrainian males aged 18 to 60 to depart the country. After this change, US-Ukrainian dual citizens, including those who live in the United States, may no longer be able to depart the country,” the US Embassy said.

Placing more women in charge of military mobilization in Ukraine would free up men for combat roles, Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk has suggested.
Kiev has recently overhauled its mobilization system in an attempt to boost connoscription rates and deploy more troops in the conflict with Russia. Reforms have included the introduction of an online service, which fighting-age men can use for an obligatory update of their personal data.
Unlike Ukrainian men, women are not subject to forced connoscription, but can serve in the military and can also volunteer their details. Commenting on claims by the Defense Ministry on Tuesday (June 4) that over 180,000 women had done so, Vereshchuk described the female population as “a great pool of personnel for the system of connoscription centers, including managerial positions.”
“By boosting the enrollment of women to work in connoscription, men could be freed up for combat units,” the senior official suggested on social media.

OpenAI Insider Estimates 70% Chance That AI Will Destroy or Catastrophically Harm Humanity
“The world isn’t ready, and we aren’t ready.”
After former and current OpenAI employees released an open letter claiming they're being silenced against raising safety issues, one of the letter's signees made an even more terrifying prediction: that the odds AI will either destroy or catastrophically harm humankind are greater than a coin flip.
In an interview with The New York Times, former OpenAI governance researcher Daniel Kokotajlo accused the company of ignoring the monumental risks posed by artificial general intelligence (AGI) because its decision-makers are so enthralled with its possibilities.
"OpenAI is really excited about building AGI," Kokotajlo said, "and they are recklessly racing to be the first there."
Kokotajlo's spiciest claim to the newspaper, though, was that the chance AI will wreck humanity is around 70%—odds you wouldn't accept for any major life event, but that OpenAI and its ilk are barreling ahead with anyway.
