Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on UN Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to evacuate the border between Israel and Lebanon on 13 October, amid ongoing resistance by Hezbollah fighters to Israel's ongoing ground operation.
Addressing UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Netanyahu said Sunday in a Hebrew-language message, "It is time for you to withdraw UNIFIL from Hezbollah strongholds and from the areas of combat."
"The IDF has repeatedly asked for this, and has been met with repeated refusals, all aimed at providing a human shield to Hezbollah terrorists," says Netanyahu.
"Your refusal to evacuate the UNIFIL soldiers makes them hostages of Hezbollah," says Netanyahu. "This endangers both them and the lives of our soldiers."

Israel has turned northern Gaza into a devastation-zone and a kill-zone, imposing a siege for nine straight days.

With one-fourth of Lebanon under forced evacuation orders and over 2,000 killed by Israel, reports say the White House is exploiting the calamity for political gain
Lebanese Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri accused the US government of “doing nothing” to stop the Israeli war on Lebanon during an interview with Saudi news outlet Asharq al-Awsat on 9 October.
“[The US] say they are in favor of stopping the war but are doing nothing to achieve that,” Berri told the Arabic daily.
“The French are still with us in this position, as are the British. As for the Americans, they say they are with us, but they are doing nothing to stop the aggression,” he stressed.
His comments follow a report by Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar that revealed US and German officials “shut the door” on any diplomatic negotiations that could put an end to the Israeli onslaught, and instead giving Tel Aviv “ample time to eliminate Hezbollah and its allies in Lebanon.”
As long-time speaker of parliament and leader of the Shia Muslim Amal Movement party, Berri has often served as a mediator between western powers and Hezbollah. “During the 2006 war, I was in charge of the political negotiations, and today I am doing the same thing,” Berri told Asharq al-Awsat.

The Iraqi resistance is becoming a key player in the Resistance Axis, coordinating with Yemeni forces, intensifying strikes on a wider range of Israeli targets, and keen to reshape the war’s trajectory.
...The Iraqi resistance has entered a new phase... taking on a more significant role in the widening regional war... escalating its activities to pressure decision-makers in Tel Aviv.
Over the past 12 months, the Islamic Resistance of Iraq (IRI) has refined its tactics and upgraded its weaponry....
Resistance unity and a multi-front strategy
The IRI’s most notable attack occurred on 4 October 2024 when a military base in the northern Golan was hit, killing two Israeli soldiers and injuring 24 others from the “elite” Golani Brigade.
A week before the operation, Ali al-Mahdi, an Iraqi resistance commander, was quoted as saying:
Despite facing significant internal challenges and external pressures... coordinated efforts across the region’s Axis of Resistance, targeting the occupation state and US military sites on multiple fronts.
....Currently, the Iraqi resistance has entered its fourth phase, which is focusing on striking deeper into Israeli territorial depth, with an emphasis on northern areas .... coincided with Israel’s destructive attacks across Lebanon and the disruption of Hezbollah’s command and control structure with the targeted assassinations of secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah and other senior commanders.
What sets this phase apart is the increased frequency and intensity of attacks, as well as the introduction of advanced drones and weaponry into the conflict.
..The continuation and intensification of these operations by the Iraqi resistance are aimed at achieving several strategic objectives. ...Finally, the operations are intended to signal to the US that the resistance is undeterred and may resume targeting American bases if provoked, particularly if US forces escalate their involvement in support of the occupation state.
There is little doubt that Washington is applying maximum pressure on the Iraqi government to rein in the IRI, as it did before the 2 February truce. But this time, Iraq’s resistance is mainly targeting Israel, which makes the US persuasion mission more difficult.

The government of Nicaragua announced on 11 October that it will break diplomatic relations with Israel in “full support” of Palestine, labeling the government in Tel Aviv as "__fascist and genocidal.__"
"Our president has instructed the republic's Foreign Ministry to comply with the request of the national parliament and begin to sever diplomatic ties with the fascist and genocidal government of Israel," Vice President Rosario Murillo said on state television Canal 4.
In a statement, the Central American nation once again condemned the genocide of Palestinians by Israel and " the occupation and the permanent aggression against the life and dignity of the people of Palestine, which is now extending against the people of Lebanon, and seriously threatens Syria, Yemen, and Iran, endangering the peace and security of the region and the world."
“In permanent solidarity with the people and government of Palestine, with the peoples who suffer martyrdom, destruction, and barbarism and in strict adherence to international law and the conventions that govern civilized relations between states and governments of the world, the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua breaks all diplomatic relations with the fascist government of Israel,” the statement stresses.
The decision was made after the Nicaraguan Parliament held a special session to “repudiate, reject, and condemn the fascist and genocidal government of Israel.”
The move is largely a symbolic one, as Israel does not have a resident ambassador in Managua and relations between the two states are mostly nonexistent.

Haaretz: Israeli Government Done With Ceasefire Talks, Seeks Annexation Of Gaza
The Israeli military is currently carrying out part of an ethnic cleansing plan in north Gaza, which could pave the way for Jewish settlements
Israeli defense officials told Haaretz on Sunday that the Israeli government is not seeking to revive ceasefire talks with Hamas and is now pushing for the gradual annexation of large portions of the Gaza Strip.
The report came about a week after Israel ordered Palestinians living in northern Gaza to evacuate to areas south of the Netzarim corridor, a strip of land controlled by the Israeli military. With the evacuation order came a major escalation in Israeli military operations in the north focused on the Jabalia refugee camp, which has been under complete siege.
The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth has reported that Israeli forces in Jabalia are carrying out a “scaled-down” version of the “general’s plan,” an outline for the complete ethnic cleansing of northern Gaza and the killing of any Palestinians who choose to stay, whether by military action or starvation. The UN’s World Food Program said Saturday that no food aid has entered northern Gaza since October 1.
Israeli Army commanders told Haaretz that the assault on northern Gaza was ordered without much preparation and that it appeared the primary purpose of the military operations was to pressure Palestinian residents to flee to the south. Many Palestinians have refused to leave northern Gaza since there’s nowhere they can go where their safety can be guaranteed. Israel has bombed so-called “safe zones” repeatedly over the past year.
The Haaretz report said Israeli troops were ordered to launch the assault on Jabalia “even though there was no intelligence to justify the move” and that some members of the Israeli security establishment didn’t support the operation, saying it would endanger the lives of Israeli hostages.

The Israeli military is currently carrying out part of an ethnic cleansing plan in north Gaza, which could pave the way for Jewish settlements
Israeli defense officials told Haaretz on Sunday that the Israeli government is not seeking to revive ceasefire talks with Hamas and is now pushing for the gradual annexation of large portions of the Gaza Strip.
The report came about a week after Israel ordered Palestinians living in northern Gaza to evacuate to areas south of the Netzarim corridor, a strip of land controlled by the Israeli military. With the evacuation order came a major escalation in Israeli military operations in the north focused on the Jabalia refugee camp, which has been under complete siege.
The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth has reported that Israeli forces in Jabalia are carrying out a “scaled-down” version of the “general’s plan,” an outline for the complete ethnic cleansing of northern Gaza and the killing of any Palestinians who choose to stay, whether by military action or starvation. The UN’s World Food Program said Saturday that no food aid has entered northern Gaza since October 1.
Israeli Army commanders told Haaretz that the assault on northern Gaza was ordered without much preparation and that it appeared the primary purpose of the military operations was to pressure Palestinian residents to flee to the south. Many Palestinians have refused to leave northern Gaza since there’s nowhere they can go where their safety can be guaranteed. Israel has bombed so-called “safe zones” repeatedly over the past year.
The Haaretz report said Israeli troops were ordered to launch the assault on Jabalia “even though there was no intelligence to justify the move” and that some members of the Israeli security establishment didn’t support the operation, saying it would endanger the lives of Israeli hostages.
