Jesse Anttila-Hughes and I would like to draw your attention to the approaching deadline for the University of San Francisco's International and Development Economics (IDEC) Master's program. The IDEC program is a two-year Master's degree that places a strong emphasis on the basics of conducting original applied econometric research in development economics. Students specialize in either an applied microeconomic or international / macroeconomic track, taking multiple field and core classes, three semesters of econometrics, and working towards an original thesis research topic, including spending the summer between their first and second years abroad conducting research.

Since Jesse and I joined the department student research has tilted towards a heavy environment and development bent, and current student research includes papers on climate and disaster impacts, gender and environment, in-utero and fetal origins, fisheries and resource management, and environmental justice literatures. Recent graduates from IDEC have gone on to work at places such as J-PAL, IPA, and NERA, as well as going on to start PhDs in strong economics departments around the country.

If a student you know might be interested in applying to the IDEC program, application materials can be found at the following link: http://www.usfca.edu/artsci/idec/

I'm also happy to answer any questions directly over email, and if you have a particularly sharp applicant in mind feel free to put him or her in touch with me directly. I and other faculty will be reviewing applications through mid March.

Very best regards to all,

Yaniv

Three PhD Researchers, Salary Scale TV-L 13, part-time 65%, start date: as soon as possible. The positions are fixed term positions until December 31, 2021.
