It is truly interdisciplinary at the interface of Physics, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, and Mathematics. 🗣 More information: We are seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher for a project on the design and simulation of state-preparation schemes with Rydberg atom quantum computers using multi-atom gates. The position is part of a collaboration project between Jena, Stuttgart, and Ulm in the framework of the qPhoton initiative funded by the Carl-Zeiss foundation. The goal of this collaboration is it to devise and experimentally demonstrate schemes for efficient preparation of tensor network states, which make optimal use of the unique capabilities of the Rydberg platform.

To achieve this, we will couple a single atom in an optical tweezer to a mecanical oscillator. We design next-generation quantum communication protocols (in particular QKD) suitable for practical and scalable quantum networks. The student will help design or revise protocols, work on security proofs, and potentially collaborate with experimentalists for demonstrations.
◽️Optical quantum information processing:
We are expanding the optical platform and techniques for quantum communication into other quantum information tasks, such as optical quantum computing and quantum sensing. The student will help design optical setups and simulate performance for quantum information processing tasks.
◽️Quantum machine learning:
We are interested in apply classical machine learning to enhance or design quantum communication systems. Meanwhile, we are exploring the possibility of using parametrized quantum circuits in QKD. The student will combine computational tools (ML and QML simulators, SDP optimizers, etc.) with quantum communication to create novel protocols.
Open to other potential quantum information topics the student is interested in and proposes to explore.
