Imagine a device that eavesdrops on your brainwaves without touching you. Patent US6011991A, '"Communication System and Method Including Brain Wave Analysis Without Active Participation," granted in 2000 to Robert Monroe claims just that.
It uses electromagnetic fields to remotely snag your brain signals and decode them into "communication data," no headset, no wires. Monroe, a guru of out-of-body research, best known for the gateway process and hemi-sync, pitched it as a passive mind-reader for the digital age.
There's also Patent US3951134A, claiming the ability to monitor and manipulate brain waves, the "Apparatus and Method for Remotely Monitoring and Altering Brain Waves," granted in 1976 to Robert Malech.
This devices uses microwaves to ping your skull, read the reflected signals, and map your mental state, no electrodes needed. The patent says it's for "communication or therapy," but many conspiracy theorists believe it's the original root of mind-control tech.
