🇪🇺 Compilation of how the New Year of 2026 began in Europe:
1: Amsterdam: just after midnight on New Year’s Day, a fire broke out at the historic 19th-century Vondelkerk. The church was reportedly severely damaged.
2: Switzerland: Many killed (~40) and wounded (~100) in an explosion at a bar in the Swiss ski resort town of Crans-Montana.
3: Germany: Arab influencer Atallah Younes fired fireworks into a child's bedroom in Berlin before attempting to flee Germany. The police caught him at the airport, and Younes claims he is a victim of racism.
4: Netherlands: Youth gangs (presumably a Moroccan gang) attack Dutch police with fireworks during overnight unrest in several areas. Three officers got gravely wounded.

🇺🇸 📝 Curtis Yarvin argues, in his latest Substack piece, that the window of opportunity for the Trump administration to conduct a regime change of the federal bureaucracy has closed, and as a consequence no meaningful, long-term change will come out of the administration.

China has ended a long-standing tax exemption on contraceptives to encourage higher birth rates.
From January 1, condoms and birth control pills are subject to a 13% value-added tax.
The move comes as China’s population declined for a third straight year in 2024, prompting broader pro-birth policies such as tax-free childcare subsidies, financial support for families, and campaigns promoting marriage and childbearing.
