🇺🇸 American workers now receive a smaller share of the nation’s economic output than at any point in history.
Labor’s share of GDP has fallen to 53.8%, the lowest level since tracking began in 1947.
Since 2001, workers’ portion of national income has dropped more than ten percentage points. Simultaneously, after-tax corporate profit margins have jumped to 10.9%, near historic highs.
As worker productivity has increased, the additional gains have flowed upward into corporate profits rather than into workers’ paychecks.
