Beware of people sharing modules with names like "maximum performance, battery saver" etc.

Always check the module before flashing. There are some people who go around sharing hard brick modules (they destroy all the partitions on your phone).

I have attached an example of a malicious magisk module. All the "su -c dd if=/dev" parts delete partitions like the bootloader. Also note "rm -rf". And NEVER run commands like "fastboot erase abl". They WILL hard brick your phone, and if you want to restore it, you will have to pay. Keep your phone safe!

Regarding "signed build", my ROMs are always signed with my private keys for years, to protect against any sort of malicious OTA. So nothing new there.
By the way AOSP is always signed, the only difference is whether a ROM uses default AOSP public/test keys or private keys. (just my OCD seeing people use the incorrect term 😩😩)
