Budding student.
I just started college, going for Network Administration and will probably do some Network Security stuff along with it because why not? I've had a refurbished Thinkpad T420 for a few years now that I got really cheap because I worked at the store I bought it from and it's served me well. I'm probably going to turn that into a secondary Linux laptop. But I want a new daily laptop for school. I'm a Freshman so I'm still completing my general education requirements. There are so many options that I need a few opinions on the good and bad of any laptop suggested. Preferably if you have or currently own the laptop in question. I don't want anything too bulky and weighty, 15 inch would be the size I'm shooting for but I could deal with a 17 inch as well. I'll probably do some VM work, I'm not particularly a newbie at computers but the overwhelming speed at which new things come out makes it hard to keep up. Also it wouldn't hurt any if it was capable of a little gaming here and there ;) I've mainly been a Windows girl my whole life, but I wouldn't be opposed to thinking about trying macOS. I've dabbled with Linux before but nothing more than playing around with different flavors. Also what other tips would you have for me? Any particular curriculum outside of what my school would offer that I should look into? Please be gentle Reddit.

Phone eavesdropping - how does it work? via the service provider or directly from the phone?
Hiso I'm trying to understand if the usual police eavesdropping is going through the service provider or is it something like a direct recording of your voice and sending it to somewhere?I'm asking in order to understand whether an encrypted tool like Telegram voice talk prevents eavesdropping? Thanks
