Zohrans victory speech was fine, but its politics were kind of iffy. Would've been way better if at the end Zohran turned to the camera & said "I am communist now" & then specified he's the exact kind of communist I am.

I recently came across this argument against birthright citizenship in the US posted in /pol/:
can a right-leaning person explain how this makes any sense? section 1 of the 14th amendment states:
"and subject to the jurisdiction thereof" surely just means anyone born in an area under US jurisdiction is automatically a US citizen
the only way I can see anyone sincerely argue that birthright citizenship isn't actually a thing in the US is if they somehow also sincerely believe immigrants aren't under US jurisdiction (and thus cannot be charged with any crime while on US soil) which is obviously absurd
Under the “subject jurisdiction thereof” language of the 14th amendment there is no legal standing for the children of foreigners born in the United States to claim citizenship since their parents are not citizens.
