A tragedy caused by the regime's hubris. Sadly almost all the righteous outrage over this is entirely insincere as the pro-theocracy monsters were celebrating the slaughter of tens of thousands of people barely a month ago.

In 1999 Serbia was ruled by a genocidal regime who repeatedly and with total contempt for humanity slaughtered many, many people. The abhorrent actions committed by this regime will not be detailed here as they are besides the point.

The Serbs, with their intense, misguided hubris and arrogance, declined this basic request and continued slaughtering.

To stop slaughtering innocent people is a very simple request to follow, something anyone with common sense can do. You just stop pulling triggers and bombing innocent people. It isn't hard.

Unfortunately the regime was incapable of understanding this. Their refusal was implicit and unambiguous consent to stop them by any means necessary. They were promptly obliterated and their regime replaced, something they had consented to.

I sincerely hope that, sooner rather than later, the powers that be finally do what's needed to Israel, for they have, for many decades, repeatedly given consent to have their abhorrent government forcefully replaced, by means of annihilation if necessary.

If someone breaks into my home and points a gun at me they've given implicit consent to have their cranium obliterated.

If a regime smears shit over the walls of basic human decency and repeatedly slaughters innocent people, they've given implicit consent to have their government obliterated.

He confiscated the lands of landowners and distributed it among the freed serfs.

The petite bourgeois(baazaris/merchant classs) got structurally squeezed because Shah massively expanded state-owned industry and opened western style supermarkets and state-run distribution chains. local artisans and small scale shopkeepers couldn't compete with mass production methods + competition with foreign imports.

The clergy(who often overlapped with the landowners class) got humiliated with the Shahs secular progressive reforms.
One of the major sources of tension was women gaining the right to vote and to hold office. Khomeini vocally opposed it as well.

Put all of that together and you get an entire class of the bourgeois actively conspiring to overthrow you.
