#Scanners the protest is moving north down Halstead, officers and EMS are being told to plan routes accordingly
#Social kids are once again leading chants as the march is on the move.
#Social Police have their backs turned away from protesters. We call that cowardice. Get a real job!
#Stream protesters are on the move again occupying an intersection at an unspecified location, chanting "People power" and "We keep us safe"
#Stream chants of "State troopers in our hood" "Ain't no good" "Don't arrest me" "Arrest the police"
#Stream police seem to be providing some type of unwanted, unwarranted, unwelcomed escort to the protest
#Stream protesters chanting "Tommy Wooten you can't hide, you committed homicide" hellllllllll yeahhhhhhhh
#Admin Sheriff Tommy Wooten gave a public statement on the Pasquotank County Sheriff facebook claiming the video showed officers giving medical care to Andrew Brown and asking that the judges allow for the partial, edited video to be seen by the family and the public. You can resign now, you racist bastard.
#Admin we've had no stream and no relevant content on scanners for a while, so we are likely to pack it in. stay safe out there, comrades.

KETTLING - what is it and your rights
by
@1312foryou

"A kettle is when police surround demonstrators to keep them in a particular place. Kettles can be very large, holding hundreds, or very small, containing only a dozen. The key feature of a kettle is that people are held within it until the police decide to let them go. In a number of recent incidents, police have decided against releasing protesters, and instead have carried out a mass arrest.

[...]

-Protests that move quickly along unplanned routes are more difficult to kettle.

-Police also feign kettles - make it look as though they are about to kettle - to disperse a protest or make protesters move away from a certain area.

-Sometimes it is possible to see a kettle being formed and to move away quickly before the kettle closes, but it is often hard to see it coming. Processions which move quickly are more difficult to kettle, but may be easier to split up or disperse."
