you could have a say that what about comics? but nah the similarities with manga fundamentals is impeccable. the over the top and exagerration of every gimmick, promos and action, the symbolization of characters, the storytellings and personas redemption and corruption arcs, their special moves and finishers, they all feel like they're rooted in each other. and that's surely why it's a huge thing in japan too. with all the importance of tōkon in stories and their cultural entanglement. they inherit eachother greatly.
