Normally, Steam always updates mods to the newest version. Now, Steam lets mods and games lock themselves to specific game versions, so:

- Mods don’t suddenly stop working
- Players can stay on an older, stable version if they want

Steam will automatically download the correct mod version for the version of the game you’re running.
