In the Gaza Strip, the Criminal Code of 1936 provides the following offences:
Article 152(1): Sexual intercourse with a female against her will by the use of force or threats of death or severe bodily harm, or when she is in a state of unconsciousness or otherwise incapable of resisting, is punishable with imprisonment for 14 years.
Article 153: Rape of a woman by deception is punishable with imprisonment for ten years.
The Penal Code of 1960 provides for the following offences that apply in the West Bank:
Article 292: Rape
Any person who has forced sexual intercourse with a female, other than his wife, shall be sentenced to at least ve years of temporary hard labour. The sentence shall not be less than seven years if the victim is less than 15 years of age.
Article 294: Sexual Intercourse with a Female under 15 or 12 Years of Age
Any person who has sexual intercourse with a female who is under 15 years of age shall be sentenced to temporary hard labour. The sentence shall not be less than ve years if the victim is less than 12 years of age.
In addition to being socially and religiously taboo, incest is illegal. In the case of incest between ascendants and descendants, Articles 285 and 286 of the Jordanian Penal Code of 1960 provide for a punishment of a minimum seven years of temporary hard labour imprisonment. If one of the offenders has legal or de facto authority over the other, a prison sentence of at least ve years of temporary hard labour imprisonment shall be imposed.
The existence of the adultery offence may deter women from reporting a rape or sexual assault for fear they may be prosecuted for adultery. The laws that criminalize adultery also discriminate against women by punishing them more severely than men.

In 2015, she was offered a job opportunity in Syria, with promises of a good income. Upon reaching Syria, ISIL confiscated her passport and exploited her as a domestic worker in Idlib. She never received the promised money for her work.
When she tried to escape, ISIL members caught, raped and mutilated her. The last known evidence of her whereabouts was received on 17 November 2015, when the information was received that she had been enslaved by a terrorist group.
Three migrant women 24 to 26 years old from Central Asia were recruited in an OSCE participating State for a job op- portunity abroad. None of the women had any formal education. The recruiter sent the women to Syria. Upon reaching the destination, their passports were taken away. The women were forced into domestic work without pay and were regularly raped. Due to their lack of identity documents, the women could not run away. Their whereabouts remain unknown at the time of the drafting of the present paper.
