Yesterday was June 18th, Law of War chapter 6.18 "Nuclear Weapons"
Nuclear weapons are not prohibited by the Law of War. They follow the same guidance as any other conventional weapon. Non-proliferation and authority to launch are attributed to State law, I international law, treaties, etc.
Nuclear weapons must be targeted at military objectives. Protection of civilians and low incidental harm must be exercised. Fallout and lasting radiation effects make this an extreme decision.

After the cessation of hostilities, information must be made available on leftover explosives "...as far as practicable, subject to these parties’ legitimate security interests..."
They can also be destroyed. In other words, they won't tell us what they have or where they detonated it all (*cough* Tonga volcano *cough*) due to "security concerns". 😉
