Misconception about nuclear weapons: Nuclear weapons give off radiation and fallout.
Nuclear fallout is residual radioactive material and is a *byproduct* of an inefficient nuclear reaction. It is the "unintended consequence" of a nuke.
WWII bombs were inefficient at converting mass to energy due to technological limitations at the time, thus fallout. Fast forward 80 years. The world isn't using WWII bombs anymore. Technology is WAY more advanced.
A clean, efficient mass-to-energy conversion would yield little to no fallout and be much more destructive.
