Hello! I'm sorry if you don't like PM's but I saw that Mint's Ratposting says something like "send us rats if you want"

Anyway I saw the news article on the new fossil cloud rats and couldn't pass up the opportunity to talk about those cool critters. I'm an evolutionary biologist who works closely with some of the authors of this paper (I have publications with Larry Heaney) and Holy cow let me just show you how cool some of these rats are (and maybe you can share them on the page if you're interested!)

Here is a picture of a Northern Luzon Giant Cloud Rat, the largest living member of the rat and mouse family (Muridae). They're like giant tree pandas, living on a diet mostly consisting of leaves!

Here is a Cordillera tweezer-snouted rat, distantly related to the giant cloud rats but also only found on one island in the Philippines. Their entire diet is earthworms to the point where they barely have any teeth! They chop up earthworms with their incisors and otherwise swallow them whole.
