This is why I cannot take seriously the racial materialists who view intermarriage as a betrayal of some mythical “white race.” To the contrary, it was this very union that restored meaning and purpose to my father’s life.

The Dominican Republic, like much of Latin America, is a triracial society—a blend of Spanish, Taino, and African influences.
