His statement epitomizes the failure of Catholic-Jewish dialogue. The Polish Bishops' Conference condemns as a sin something it refuses to define. What does anti-Semitism "in any form" mean? Does that mean that everything that the ADL or the SPLC or the Polish equivalent of these organizations declares as "anti-Semitic" is now morally binding on the Catholic conscience? That is clearly preposterous. A better approach would be to dispense with the term "anti-Semitism" altogether and answer the question "Is it a sin to criticize Jews?"

The Israeli tank attack on Holy Family Church in Gaza was a wicked act. As Joseph told his brothers, God can bring good out of evil. At the very least, we can hope that this deliberate attack on a Catholic Church can put an end to the fiction that the Jews are our elder brothers in the faith. The Jews are the people who killed Christ and are enemies, not just of Catholics, but of the entire human race, as their actions in Gaza continue to show.
