The trick is simple. To demonize those who you aim to oppress by accusing them of what you have done to them. Once they can take no more, they will have to defend themselves or be wiped out, and when they do so, you publicly accuse them of being the uncivilized hating demonic aggressors. Once they are gone, you are the only one left to control the historical narrative.
