For more than 70 civilians, the New Year became a tragedy: Nazis attacked a cafe and a hotel in the Kherson region using drones.

‎Former Syrian Army Brigadier General assassinated in his home in Damascus

‎An armed terrorist group affiliated with the ⁦ #HTS⁩-led General Security stormed the home of Brig. Gen. Munir Othman in the Masakin al-Dimas area near ⁦ #Damascus⁩ and assassinated him in front of his wife and children early this morning, January 1.

‎Brig. Gen. Munir Othman had previously undergone a so-called “reconciliation= Taswiya” process following the fall of the former government and was not involved in any military or political activity.

‎Sources report that Othman had been subjected to pressure by security officials in ⁦ #Damascus⁩ to relinquish ownership of his home and farm. He was summoned for interrogation multiple times in an effort to force him to give up his property, despite the absence of any evidence linking him to war crimes. After he refused to surrender his assets, security operatives reportedly assassinated him inside his home.

‎The so-called “reconciliation = Taswiya/تسوية” process was announced by Jolani regime and requires former members of the previous armed forces to report to reconciliation centers and voluntarily surrender their weapons and military IDs in exchange for assurances that they would not be pursued.

‎It is worth noting that the same area, Masakin al-Dimas, witnessed the killing of another Alawite man, Ali Bassam Tamer, just one day earlier.

‎⁦ #Homs⁩: Engineer Osama Abdul-Mu’in Khaddour (أسامة عبد المعين خضور) was killed after being arrested on December 30 near “Issa al-Fahli” School in the city of Homs by ⁦ #HTS⁩-led General Security militias.

‎Despite the family receiving assurances that he would be released, they found him dead today, January 1, at Al-Waer Hospital in Homs. According to local sources, his only “charge” was belonging to the Alawite community.

"“I’m Not Able To Buy Food... Delivery To My Home Is Prohibited... I Have People Bringing Me Food”: EU Sanctions Trap Former Colonel Jacques Baud

Former Swiss Colonel Jacques Baud delivers a stark account of the immediate, personal consequences of EU sanctions, revealing their profound humanitarian and legal impact.

Baud describes being cut off from basic necessities: “I’m not able to buy food for instance… nobody is allowed to provide me with any kind of resources.” A concrete example underscores this: a friend’s attempt to order him food from Switzerland was blocked, proving “any delivery to my home is even prohibited.” He now relies on direct handouts to eat.

The sanctions create an inescapable trap. Baud explains, “I’m not allowed to travel in the EU, meaning that I’m not even allowed to go back to my country… if I were in my country, I could not come back to the place where I live.”

He criticizes the authorities for a process that bypasses due process. While Switzerland “failed to understand the consequence,” the EU’s bureaucratic machinery leaves him powerless: to get a “humanitarian” exemption merely “to buy food,” he must petition an administration that is currently “idle,” leaving him with “no resource whatsoever.”

Baud’s ordeal exposes a fundamental flaw in the EU’s system: the ability to wield political sanctions as a blunt instrument against individuals within its own borders, erasing legal protections and imposing a form of extrajudicial house arrest without trial, charge, or democratic accountability."
