Last week Windham parents received an email from the Superintendent stating their intentions to re-visit their re-opening plan from the end of the school year. We were promised a re-opening plan that would give parental choice when it came to masking our children. Do not allow our ELECTED officials to change their stance using anti-science measures. We have the facts and truth on our side.

A bit of good news is that the school board has replied to the communicatons of local activists that the board is not considering mandatory injections for staff or teachers – it won't even be discussed.

BUT... we still need to SHOW UP!

This time we need to resist the SEGREGATION and DISCRIMINATION of our students. Superintendent Adam Steel wants to MASK UP the NON VACCINATED. He wants to QUARANTINE the NON VACCINATED.

Patriots, please know, all of you that attended the meeting and those of you that spoke up, it MATTERED. The board changed their views AFTER listening to everyone.

We must INSIST that MASKS MUST BE OPTIONAL FOR ALL.
We must INSIST that there be NO SEPARATION BETWEEN STUDENTS BASED ON THEIR VACCINATION STATUS. NONE.

We are MANY. Please, bring your neighbors and friends and KIDS. Turn out a crowd to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. No more TYRANNY. No more DISCRIMINATION. No more TRAUMA on our children. The purpose of this panel discussion is to inform healthcare workers (and others) of their rights, identify strategies to fight mandates, and point out resources that are available to them.

EFFECTIVELY APPROACHING SCHOOL BOARDS
Recommendations from an allied school NH board member

1. The most helpful thing is calm testimony with factual data. Keep it as short as possible, so that you don't lose the attention of the board.

2. Some members count and bring up any citizens who email them. People should start sending in their opinions to their board members in advance of any meeting — your message doesn't have to be long.

3. It will not be effective to threaten, yell, or insult. Folks should not assume that any board member is of a certain viewpoint unless they hear from that person directly.

4. It seems there are board members who are torn between two ideologies, and we might fall to the side of parent's rights, if winsome testimony is presented. Data matters to those individuals.

Here is something I wrote to send to our local school board (some of this is specifc to our town, but probablby a lot of you are up against the same proposed policies). Feel free to copy/reuse:

To the members of the school board,

I was disappointed to read the "school safety plan" presented by XXX. While I understand he was likely following state and federal health bureaucracies when crafting this plan, it is actually harmful to our community and flies in the face of the undisputed scientific facts.

First, this is harmful to our community by promoting discrimination. While it does not punish individual students by asking their vaccination status, it does provide for discrimination among the teachers AND it punishes whole segments for whom a vaccine is unavailable. It baselessly promotes the ideology that the vaccine is our savior and the only way we can get back to "normal." This false understanding undermines the TRUTH, which is that COVID is now an endemic disease in the same way that flu or the common cold are. It is not going away, even with 100% vaccine uptake (see https://twitter.com/RWMaloneMD/status/1427650204921122819).

Second, we have known since at least June 2020 that COVID is not a threat to children, based on the data from several European countries who reopened their schools early. Since then we have seen that virtually no American children (and specifically ZERO NH children) have died from COVID. Nationwide, a child's risk of death from COVID is 0.008% (effectively zero). In fact, children are far more likely to die from the flu than from COVID – in 2018-19, 477 died of the flu, whereas there have only been 355 child deaths from COVID in 20 months (and every single death, while tragic, had some sort of pre-existing condition).

For comparison, more than 2,000 American children and teens died in car crashes in 2019, and accidental drowning claims the lives of nearly 1,000 children each year. Even unintentional drug overdoses claim more lives than COVID-19 in this age group. In 2016, unintentional drug poisoning killed 761 children.

In addition to the essentially ZERO threat, children are also not vectors for the disease. This has been known since LAST SUMMER. Here are just a couple studies, though I'm sure there are others:

"A collection of international family clusters found that children were not likely to be the index case in households, only being responsible for around 10% of clusters.9 Data from Guangzhou have supported this, finding an even lower rate of children as index cases in households at 5%.8 A case study of a cluster in the French Alps included a child with COVID-19 who failed to transmit it to any other person, despite exposure to more than a hundred children in different schools and a ski resort.10 In a school study from New South Wales, Australia, a proportion of 863 close contacts of 9 child and 9 teachers were followed for seroconversion as a marker of recent exposure.11 No evidence of children infecting teachers was found. One secondary case (in the child in a high school) was presumed to have been infected following close contact with two student cases. The other secondary case was presumed to have been infected by a staff member (teacher) who was a case. In The Netherlands, separate data from primary care and household studies suggests SARS-CoV-2 is mainly spread between adults and from adult family members to children.

A commentary published in the journal Pediatrics concludes that children infrequently transmit COVID-19 to each other or to adults. "The key takeaway is that children are not driving the pandemic. After six months, we have a wealth of accumulating data showing that children are less likely to become infected and seem less infectious; it is congregating adults who aren't following safety protocols who are responsible for driving the upward curve."

Third, masking of children should never have been a policy undertaken or recommended by any level of government. Mask wearing itself (except perhaps N95 masks) is not supported by science to combat a respiratory virus – even the CDC and NH DHHS recommendations are not based in science, but rather are based in political calculations and pseudo science. The CDC continues to hang its recommendations on a (junk) observational study of a hairdresser wearing a mask and not passing COVID to 100+ of her customers. On the other hand, the actual gold-standard controlled trials (including 60+ years of evidence based on spread of influenza and masking) demonstrate that masking provides little to no protection or benefit to masking in reducing spread of a respiratory virus (see a compilation of scientific data from the AAPS here: https://aapsonline.org/mask-facts).

Meanwhile, masking has profound psychological, emotional, and even physical effects on children. It promotes anxiety, unwarranted trauma, and a negative social conditioning into a state of fear. It deprives children of the oxygen levels they need, concentrating carbon dioxide, moisture, and bacteria on their nose and mouth. It hinders social cues and social-emotional learning in terms of facial expressions – a recent study demonstrates that in young children, there has been a 21 point drop in IQ due to COVID "mitigation" measures, masking included in the potential reasons for this drop. Masking children is abuse, plain and simple, and a truly systemic form that adults have not only convinced themselves is acceptable, but an unqualified good. It must end.

Finally, I ask you to embrace your own authority, bestowed on you by the taxpayers of this town and delegated to you by the parents of the children in the Amherst schools. Do not pass the buck to the NH DHHS or to the CDC or any other unelected body that has been exerting outsized control over the past 20 months. YOU are the people who are responsible for these children – NOT those bureaucrats. It is YOUR responsibility to think critically and to follow the ACTUAL science (not just what the experts on TV say the science is). Our children deserve nothing less than your full consideration of all the facts – and your COURAGE to follow the facts where they lead, rather than just following what government bureaucrats dictate.

Attention Merrimack Valley school district parents! Just 10 days ago we had a big win in the school board meeting with masks being the parent’s choice. Now it looks like the board has called an emergency meeting for this coming Monday (Aug 23rd) to discuss further. Please pass this along. We had a great turnout of parents speaking out against mask mandates at the last meeting.

Just got back from the Amherst School board meeting (and didn't even stick it out to the end because I had a kid with me). The difference between the mask vs unmask side couldn't have been more clear:

The unmask crowd had 2 PhDs and multiples more parents, plus they all came equipped with arguments based on science and data.

The mask crowd arguments basically came down to it makes me feel better and follow the CDC. And they were very outnumbered.
