A Mass Base for Fascism?

https://cwc.im/January6DC

Our full chronology and appraisal of the events of January 6 in Washington, DC.

As the Republican Party fractures, a new political center is emerging—albeit much further to the right—while some Trump supporters are embracing outright fascism.

America is the wealthiest nation on Earth, but its people are mainly poor, and poor Americans are urged to hate themselves. To quote the American humorist Kin Hubbard, ‘It ain’t no disgrace to be poor, but it might as well be.’ It is in fact a crime for an American to be poor, even though America is a nation of poor. Every other nation has folk traditions of men who were poor but extremely wise and virtuous, and therefore more estimable than anyone with power and gold. No such tales are told by the American poor. They mock themselves and glorify their betters. The meanest eating or drinking establishment, owned by a man who is himself poor, is very likely to have a sign on its wall asking this cruel question: ‘if you’re so smart, why ain’t you rich?’ There will also be an American flag no larger than a child’s hand – glued to a lollipop stick and flying from the cash register.

Americans, like human beings everywhere, believe many things that are obviously untrue. Their most destructive untruth is that it is very easy for any American to make money. They will not acknowledge how in fact hard money is to come by, and, therefore, those who have no money blame and blame and blame themselves. This inward blame has been a treasure for the rich and powerful, who have had to do less for their poor, publicly and privately, than any other ruling class since, say Napoleonic times. Many novelties have come from America. The most startling of these, a thing without precedent, is a mass of undignified poor. They do not love one another because they do not love themselves.

We interrupt our comedy session to bring you a reminder to learn permaculture while the MAGAts and other rightoids are recovering from their humiliation. While they're huffing tank after tank of copium let's build a peasant food network. Here are three resources:
As an additional resource, here's a link to the appropriate technology wiki!

They're promoting another """""march""""" after having just attempted a coup that they programmed for weeks, and was facilitated both from the Pentagon and by the police that was there, and strongly encouraged by the Presidents and his closest allies, many of whom are now blaming leftists for what happened, even tho they bragged about it for weeks and many had fucking t-shirts with the date and everything.

Now, they're promoting it again for Jan 20, "for the purpose of preventing any attempt by the treasonous domestic enemy Joe Biden [which, I don't need to tell you, is officially the next president and the certification of the vote has happened because they managed to save the votes from being burned 2 days ago], or any other member of the Communist Organized Crime Organization [they're very organized, that we're sure of], also known as The Democratic Party, from entering the White House belonging to We The People [after they just entered, vandalized, destroyed and looted the Capitol, and made a fire in front of it].

In the eventh that justice is miraculously served and our Re-Elcted President DJT is sworn in [even if for the sake of argument we agreed with their election fraud bs which is completely fake, they literally can't do anything. The votes have been certified. They couldn't burn them]: the President, the capital and our national Monuments will be protected from the prevent-violent Leftist insurgents who have declared war against the USA and have been conducting an active insurrection in the USA"

????

THEY JUST FUCKING DID IT THEMSELVES, ALL OF IT. WHAT THE FUCK???

This has to be the most overt example of what I've always called "right-wing doublethinking" that I've ever seen. They write this stuff for the sake of narrative and then collectively convince themselves that this is true. I have no fucking words.

(I'm done with the posting today, in any case. Sorry for the spam)
This actually reminds me of something I think about a lot. In his work Ur Fascism, Umberto Eco argued the point that one of the main hallmarks of fascist ideology is cognitive dissonance. It's not surprising then that, when observing the American conservative movement, (which bears many similarities to past fascist movements) you see that it engages in these kinds of delusions. "The terrorists seeking to overturn a crucial function of American democracy were, in fact, patriots, but, of course, the violent actors were secretly leftist infiltrators and, by the way, us patriots are planning on doing this again." My take on these contradictory ideas is that, if you subscribe to the theory that main ideological sticking point of conservatism is the preservation of hierarchies, then reactionary uprising creates something of a paradox. Uprising, by nature, is a form of anti-hierarchal violence in that it creates conflict with established institutions, which, of course creates internal contradictions when used in a pro-hierarchy way. The only way for the conservative to uphold those beliefs, then, is to hold similarly contradictory understandings of such violence.

From A German War Primer
By BERTOLT BRECHT

AMONGST THE HIGHLY PLACED
It is considered low to talk about food.
The fact is: they have
Already eaten.

The lowly must leave this earth
Without having tasted
Any good meat.

For wondering where they come from and
Where they are going
The fine evenings find them
Too exhausted.

They have not yet seen
The mountains and the great sea
When their time is already up.

If the lowly do not
Think about what's low
They will never rise.

THE BREAD OF THE HUNGRY HAS
ALL BEEN EATEN
Meat has become unknown. Useless
The pouring out of the people's sweat.
The laurel groves have been
Lopped down.
From the chimneys of the arms factories
Rises smoke.

THE HOUSE-PAINTER SPEAKS OF
GREAT TIMES TO COME
The forests still grow.
The fields still bear
The cities still stand.
The people still breathe.

ON THE CALENDAR THE DAY IS NOT
YET SHOWN
Every month, every day
Lies open still. One of those days
Is going to be marked with a cross.

THE WORKERS CRY OUT FOR BREAD
The merchants cry out for markets.
The unemployed were hungry. The employed
Are hungry now.
The hands that lay folded are busy again.
They are making shells.

THOSE WHO TAKE THE MEAT FROM THE TABLE
Teach contentment.
Those for whom the contribution is destined
Demand sacrifice.
Those who eat their fill speak to the hungry
Of wonderful times to come.
Those who lead the country into the abyss
Call ruling too difficult
For ordinary men.

WHEN THE LEADERS SPEAK OF PEACE
The common folk know
That war is coming.
When the leaders curse war
The mobilization order is already written out.

THOSE AT THE TOP SAY: PEACE
AND WAR
Are of different substance.
But their peace and their war
Are like wind and storm.

War grows from their peace
Like son from his mother
He bears
Her frightful features.

Their war kills
Whatever their peace
Has left over.

ON THE WALL WAS CHALKED:
They want war.
The man who wrote it
Has already fallen.

THOSE AT THE TOP SAY:
This way to glory.
Those down below say:
This way to the grave.

THE WAR WHICH IS COMING
Is not the first one. There were
Other wars before it.
When the last one came to an end
There were conquerors and conquered.
Among the conquered the common people
Starved. Among the conquerors
The common people starved too.

THOSE AT THE TOP SAY COMRADESHIP
Reigns in the army.
The truth of this is seen
In the cookhouse.
In their hearts should be
The selfsame courage. But
On their plates
Are two kinds of rations.

WHEN IT COMES TO MARCHING MANY DO NOT
KNOW
That their enemy is marching at their head.
The voice which gives them their orders
Is their enemy's voice and
The man who speaks of the enemy
Is the enemy himself.

IT IS NIGHT
The married couples
Lie in their beds. The young women
Will bear orphans.

GENERAL, YOUR TANK IS A POWERFUL VEHICLE
It smashes down forests and crushes a hundred men.
But it has one defect:
It needs a driver.

General, your bomber is powerful.
It flies faster than a storm and carries more than an elephant.
But it has one defect:
It needs a mechanic.

General, man is very useful.
He can fly and he can kill.
But he has one defect:
He can think.

For context, this poem was written in the years leading up to World War 2 by Bertolt Brecht, who fled to country fearing for his life, when Hitler came to power.
