If you're willing to accept that the field of psychology is subject to it's own kind of Overton window, (one that gauges acceptable social behavior instead of acceptable political behavior) then it's not unreasonable to suspect that there are abnormal psychological states and maladaptions that have become normalized to the point that they're now seen as being the norm. Let's turn this discussion towards capitalism, and the common argument that it's "human nature." Is it? Is it really reasonable to suspect that the creature that built societies to provide a primitive form of mutual aid is inherently fine with exploitation? Tell me, how does the child react when first exposed to the idea of homelessness? I've always wondered if the capitalist system is more a product of wide-scale normalization of an otherwise abnormal mindset than it is a product of our human nature.

The success of the French Popular Front lay in its ability to form a broad coalition on the left and to reach strata of the population traditionally ignored by communist parties. This is a lesson that antifascists today could do well to learn.
Forwarded from OTAS: operational thinking against the state
Stray thought:
What is the operational function of police review board?
We can look to the history of labor struggles to see a similar mechanism; the complaint box. Taylorist management thinkers found that if they introduced a complaint box that labor organizing lost steam, even without the complaints actually bring addressed.
Official police accountability groups often function in the same way. To give a pressure release valve energy can be spent into and also to garner more legitimacy for local governments in the eyes of the people.
