I want to counterpoint some shit because I feel like there hasn't really been a calm opposition voice on the channel, which is partly my fault for shitposting "cringe" at shit.

>You can't in good faith be a leftist and like crypto.

Says who? Yes you can. Simple as that.

>youre either ignorant of the disasters its causing or [Literally No True Scotsman]

What disasters? Anyone who is up to speed on the variety of environmental threats to us knows that
a) the problem is 99% relegated to what corporate execs for G&E, Shell, and such companies do with natural resources - no ethical consumption, etc etc
b) none of the environmental dangers facing us - of which there are a myriad - are power consumption. It doesn't matter how much energy you use, I use, any given country could use; That energy is already on the grid for a reason.
The problem is not in how much power we draw, it is in how we generate that power.

I will acknowledge that bitcoin and some others cryptos' use of artificial scarcity by ramping up needed machine power creates way more energy drag than needed, but the idea that the global banking system (which is itself invested in btc and crypto) somehow uses less than any given blockchain is abjectly false.

Not only that, but these concerns have been addressed before already. Much of this E-waste comes from proof of work systems that are often unnecessary and can be optimized for when they are necessary.

>Crypto is an attempt to decentralize Capitalism

GOOD.

Anyone familiar with agorist and mutualist theories understands that not every market and currency is "Capitalist". Next to that, as capitalism hinges on centralization of ownership, any decentralization is a hit to Capital.

There is nothing innately bad or reactionary about crypto. But everyone wants to act like it's the devil anytime working class conservatives, lolbergs and redditors make a big buck on it.

We're not going to make ourselves more appealing to the working class by calling them out for doing shit that actually helps them survive and decentralizes the holding of wealth in the process, even to a minute degree.

And yes, this isn't a "big hit" to the elite, but it doesn't take big hits to the elite to make leviathan gains for a working class person.
I'd disagree with the claim that capitalism relies on centralization of ownership, but finally someone is calling out leftist buzzkills. A better way to put it is that capitalism has naturally centralizing elements and is perpetually heading that direction.

Daily reminder that if you want, you can do a sabotage, and if you do it well, you can prevent the pollution and death of your local ecosystem, with benefits for the ecosystems around the planet.

actually if you really wanted to screw up their day, you'd put gasoline in the tank. Most construction equiptment is diesel, and if you put gasoline in a diesel, it will cause massive mechanical failures that will cost a lot to fix, a mere serpentine belt would be a <$100 replacement

"Everything that happened in Nazi Germany was legal. It happened in courtrooms, just like this. It was done by judges who wore robes and quoted the law, judges who said 'This is the law, respect it.'"
