Okay, I'm going to say something a little controversial here, so please bare with me. Roe v. Wade has a very real chance of being overturned. Now, while it's important that we recognize that abortion access is necessary health care for not just women but trans people as well, we can't let ourselves get distracted. Yes, it's wrong and exclusionary that people are framing it as a woman's issue instead of an issue that affects a plethora of folk, but if you're more invested in creating infighting over that than protecting people's rights, you need to reassess your priorities.

Yes, I know that what I said can be seen as putting cis women at the forefront and sidelining issues of trans visibility and yes I know it's frustrating to be told "now's not the time" again, but people's access to healthcare is on the line across huge swathes of the country, and internal division really isn't useful right now.

Today is the 50th anniversary of the arrest of The Janes, a group of women who were arrested for providing safe yet illegal abortions in Chicago before Roe v. Wade. Many were women who had abortions helping others to have abortions.

Okay, so back in the waybacks, David Foster Wallace speculated that the reason the rise of post-modernism occurred in the first place was because of the rise of television. Basically, the main activity went from active doing into passive observation of doing, which was reflected in the art of post-television existence. Now we exist in the era of social media, where a similar change is occurring. The main ontological state for people is no longer being, but the cultivation and creation of identities. Now, we see this reflected in our politics with the increased prevalence of gender conversations and, I suspect, it will become increasingly relevant in our art, which will focus not on the subverting the metanarrative, but rather the metanarrator.

Posting my theory about the next great art movement here, because I typed it out anyway and I may as well share.
