"In the late 1960s, writer Denny O'Neil, inspired by the character's dramatic visual redesign by Neal Adams, chose to have him lose his fortune, giving him the then-unique role of a streetwise crusader for the working class and the disadvantaged."

This weekend, protesters opposing the construction of the police training compound known as "Cop City" reoccupied the forest that the police are trying to destroy. For two days, hundreds of people of all ages gathered to share music, food, literature, art, and camaraderie.
Tonight, while the festival was taking place on the other side of the forest, demonstrators damaged equipment at the construction site itself. In response, the police attacked the festival, which they themselves described as "peaceful" in their press release. The press release falsely implies that the arrests took place at the construction site, whereas all of the reported arrests took place at and around the concert.
