This is both surprising and extremely good news. The independent state legislature theory would have given state legislatures almost total control over federal elections, which would grant republicans a permanent seat in every single branch of government, forever. Dissenters were Gorusch, Alito, and Thomas. Surprisingly, Kavanaugh and Barrett concurred with the majority opinion, but this is less surprising given some of their more recent liberal decisions in the Supreme Court. This is legitimately monumental.

Conservatives are trying their hardest to make up cases of detrans folks who are not trans supportive and it's really fucking funny.
