On the platform previously known as Twitter, Elon Musk has apparently given orders to automatically remove those who follow the account of Palestine Action US (@Pal_ActionUS). Many people have reported that after following that account, their accounts automatically unfollow it. We can confirm this ourselves.
Whatever your politics in regard to Palestine, this is an important precedent. It confirms that Elon Musk bought Twitter in order to make it impossible for people to communicate except in ways that align with his personal agenda as a billionaire and racist.
Relying on X/Twitter to communicate means enabling Elon Musk to personally determine whom we can hear and whom is silenced.

A few of my current thoughts on technology:
1. Being anti-technology or anti-science helps no one, ever.
2. One of the reasons the far right rarely lasts more than a few regimes in the modern era is the impulse to be anti-technology, from Jewish physics to anti-vax.
3. Technology is neither good nor bad, there are only good or bad applications of it.
4. Distance should be made between applications of technology and technology itself. Mark Zuckerberg didn't "make new tech" to do Facebook, he applied existing innovations in a new, manipulative way.
5. While no technology is bad, efficiency being the primary (or often only) measure of worth for technology is a large part of why it's so abused. Capitalism kills principled applications.
6. While often the case, it is not always true that older, largely abandoned technologies are less efficient. Roman self-healing concrete is an example of this.
