BREAKING: UN Security Council calls for immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, U.S. abstains but doesn’t veto
For those of you who don't know enough about the UN to know why this is big: The Security Council is the most powerful body in the organization, and is the only one with the authority to do things such as declare sanctions or authorize military interventions. Additionally, it's dictums are considered binding by all member states, unlike most UN treaties, according to the UN charter

While I doubt that the US would ever allow actual sanctions or interventions in Israel, Israel refusing to abide by the decision wouldn't just mean it was "violating international treaties" it would mean it was acting in direct opposition to the UN charter by flaunting the UNSC's authority.
Doesn't mean they won't do it, but it's inarguably a much bigger deal if they do

Fairly interesting article about the coming issues over energy production and consumption. While this article is ultimately about Virginia, Old Dominion's definitely a microcosm of a much wider, actively brewing political problem.

"What is happening at Boeing is happening in every industry. A general trend toward financialisation & hedge fund culture that sees only numbers, not peoples lives or wellbeing. It's just that aviation has a way of making the corruption impossible to hide. It's the dead canary." - Ben King

Israel is trying to leverage their political power to dismantle the main aid group providing to Gaza.

We need to defend our golf courses. They're cultural relics. Not only do they represent the peak of European social and cultural progress, they also have played an important role in history. Think for a minute: Who among the greatest men in geo-politics of the last 30 years has not been an avid golfer?
Now, I understand the concerns some have about the potential effects of dedicating so much land and resources to the esteemed sport, but 1. Think of the catastrophic consequences of "banning" golf (golf can never truly be banned, some beautiful rebel somewhere will always have a club in hand) and 2. Most of the "challenges" golf creates can easily be offset. It wouldn't be too hard to create a device to remove toxic chemicals from the soil and water, (think carbon capture, but for the Earth) in fact, I'm sure some investor somewhere is already working on it. As for land use? That's an efficiency problem. We pump a few billion into vertical farming, and then, after that, we halve the size of studio apartments. They already give people way more room than they need. Where's the land use issue now?
Anyway,April Fools!
