Friends, I usually reserve my political posts for my other channel, but if you're in America I would like to ask you to not just vote, but specifically to vote for Kamala Harris. While I'm not always fond of her and her policies, it is true she has advocated for cutting taxes to the middle and working class, cutting prenoscription drug prices and lowering rent by incentivizing homebuilding across the US. If this is not enough to persuade you, I hope a simple list of things Donald Trump has recently discussed at his rallies might:

-Spoke about killing executing political rivals
-Spoke about arresting people who protest the Supreme Court
-Wants to give Elon Musk a role in his administrative team
-Has floated the idea of banning vaccines at a rally
-Advocates for protectionist policies such as tariffs, which only serve to hurt the American consumer
-Has stated he wants to "finish the job" in Palestine

Stress checking the polling stats is only going to make your night worse.

At this point, I have very little patience for the anti-voting crowd. You're not a hero. You're not being seditious. You're refusing to do the bare minimum. Yeah yeah, you should do more than voting, but that's not the point right now.

Politicians don't spend insane amounts of money on their campaigns for no reason. People have not historically fought and died for the right to vote for no reason. Republicans aren't stupid, and they don't spend egregious amounts of money trying to make voting HARDER for no reason.

Now, I'm from Colorado, which makes voting very easy. We get a blue book full of all the judge retentions, all of the ballot initiatives, explaining what to be "for" or "against" means in each. There are plenty of 24/7 ballot drop off stations. This is not how it is in many US states, *because politicians know that voting does make an impact.*

At the same time, don't fall into a doomer spiral. No "we're so close to nuclear war" jokes. No speculation. Just vote, and breathe.

And also, I would like to remind everyone that learned helplessness is a choice. Voting is 1 of many steps to making a better world, and the rest are still on the table, even if they're more difficult now.

Hi friends, I encourage you all to do something, right now. Go to a protest, make some friends. Join an org, talk to your coworkers about unionizing. Find mutual aid lists, donate. Help out grassroots organizers.

I'm broke and live in rural, rural Virginia, so I can't do too much in person, but I've made a point to pass around mutual aid documents and have also been sharing and intend to donate to reprorisingva.org, the website for an organization trying to enshrine reproductive rights into the Virginia constitution.

It's small, but a lot of small action adds up.
