I come across ideas and concepts that I take personal offense to all the time, but that doesn't mean I think those ideas should never have been written down

Also doesn't mean I don't think the person who came up with them is a total headass

is not an incompatible position with "not every idea should be given the same platform and distribution, and it's irresponsible to allow bad faith actors to use your platform to mislead people"

The world is going to shit. We all know this. So I'm expressing this now. For 2025 I am planting my flag on the hill of nuance. That annoying "devils advocate" but with less right-wing pipeline and more anti-rage bait on either side.

So I beg all of you to join me in taking a moment to ask motives about statements this coming year. Look at the generalisations and say "do the exceptions prove the rule or point to a flaw?" and "bad people can do shit we agree with and we don't have to agree or condemn them fully". That latter one is going to be very important I have a feeling.

I think this could make an even stronger point: the charge of terrorism has been warped into something used against anyone who takes action against systemic violence, whether peacefully (stop cop city) or violently (Luigi)

I agree somewhat. I might phrase it as terrorism as a charge is relative and related to challenges to institutional authority rather than the specifics of the act being committed, but I think the core truth of the comment stands
