After over two years in Hamas captivity in Gaza, American-Israeli IDF Captain Omer Neutra, who was murdered and kidnapped from southern Israel by Hamas terrorists, has finally returned to Israel.

Alon, just six years old at the time, was visiting his father, IDF Colonel Asaf Hamami, on his base in southern Israel when the Hamas massacre erupted on October 7, 2023. Colonel Hamami, commander of the Gaza Division’s Southern Brigade, kissed his son and went out to defend southern Israel as terrorists invaded the region.

While his father fought to protect the area, Alon remained at the base under the care of soldiers at the headquarters, who were managing the unfolding attacks.
Alon survived, but his father, Colonel Hamami, along with his two soldiers, Sergant Kiril Brodski (19) and Staff Sergeant Tomer Ahimas (20), were murdered and kidnapped from Kibbutz Nirim, where they had gone to defend against the terrorists.

After more than two years in captivity, Colonel Hamami was returned to Israel on November 2. Today, the nation mourns as he was laid to rest, honoring his heroism and ultimate sacrifice in defense of his people.

On October 29th, 2025; The first permanent Monument to memorialize October 7, 2023, was unveiled by Varda and Jess Fields and family at the Shalom Baruch Jewish Cemetery at Rosewood in Humble, Texas.

We also had the honor of hearing from Omer Shem Tov, a former hostage who spent 505 days in Hamas captivity in Gaza. He honored the hostages and the IDF soldiers that have fallen since protecting Israel since October 7, 2023.

On October 6, 2023, before leaving home to attend the Nova Festival in southern Israel, Guy Gilboa-Dalal asked his dad to wait to take down the sukkah (a hut Jewish families build each year during the holiday of Sukkot) until he returned.
But on October 7, 2023, Guy was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and held in Gaza for over two years. Finally released from captivity on October 13, he was able to take down the sukkah his family had kept standing, waiting faithfully for his return.

O Museu do Holocausto de Jerusalém, Yad Vashem, anunciou nesta segunda-feira (3) que recuperou os nomes de 5 milhões de judeus assassinados durante o Holocausto — um marco histórico em sua missão de restaurar as identidades das seis milhões de vítimas do regime nazista. O trabalho contou com a colaboração de comunidades judaicas e instituições de pesquisa em todo o mundo.

O anúncio ocorre em um momento delicado em relação a este assunto, já que o número de sobreviventes vivos aptos a documentar seus depoimentos diminui rapidamente: dos cerca de 200 mil que restam, metade poderá não estar viva em sete anos, segundo estimativa da Claims Conference. O Yad Vashem reconhece que o milhão restante de nomes talvez nunca seja identificado, embora novas tecnologias, como a inteligência artificial, possam ajudar a revelar até 250 mil novas identidades.

“Alcançar a marca de cinco milhões de nomes é um marco e, ao mesmo tempo, uma lembrança da nossa obrigação inacabada”, disse Dani Dayan, presidente do Yad Vashem. “Por trás de cada nome há uma vida que importou — uma criança que nunca cresceu, um pai ou uma mãe que nunca voltou para casa, uma voz silenciada para sempre.”

Em uma época de crescente antissemitismo e tentativas de negar ou relativizar o Holocausto, a documentação de todos esses nomes é algo ainda mais importante para a preservação da memória das vítimas desse que foi um dos maiores crimes da história da humanidade.
