Scientists from Tel Aviv University, working in collaboration with the Weizmann Institute of Science, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and the Max Planck Institute in Germany, have uncovered a groundbreaking biological mechanism that could transform how Alzheimer’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis (MS) are treated.

The researchers identified that a protein called Tfii-i inhibits myelin production (myelin is a fatty substance that insulates neurons and enables fast, efficient communication). By reducing Tfii-i levels in specific cells of lab mice, scientists were able to increase myelin growth, leading to thicker myelin sheaths, faster neural signaling, and even improved coordination and mobility.

O Yad Vashem, museu do Holocausto de Jerusalém, inaugurou recentemente a exposição Living Memory, que reúne pela primeira vez centenas de objetos pessoais de vítimas e sobreviventes do Holocausto. São itens profundamente simbólicos, como estrelas amarelas de David, cadernos usados por famílias escondidas e uma colher que salvou um jovem ao deter uma bala, os quais resgatam histórias individuais apagadas pelo genocídio de seis milhões de judeus.

As peças foram selecionadas do vasto acervo do museu e ajudam a reconstruir trajetórias de resistência, fé e sobrevivência. Entre elas estão o guarda-roupa onde uma adolescente se escondeu durante uma batida nazista, um tronco de árvore usado como abrigo após uma marcha da morte e um candelabro improvisado com arame farpado em um campo de concentração. A mostra também traz releituras artísticas que recuperam símbolos da Shoá, incluindo representações de Anne Frank e obras feitas por prisioneiros.

Lançada em um momento de crescente negacionismo do Holocausto e aumento global do antissemitismo, a exposição reforça a urgência de preservar o testemunho histórico. Ao mesmo tempo em que o Yad Vashem anuncia ter recuperado cinco milhões de nomes de judeus assassinados, a instituição destaca que manter viva a memória da Shoá é essencial para enfrentar o ódio e educar as próximas gerações, especialmente após o trauma de 7 de outubro de 2023, quando novas tentativas de apagar e distorcer a história vieram à tona.

O insulto, registrado e publicado nas redes sociais, expõe como a polarização política ao redor do mundo tem aberto cada vez mais espaço para ataques contra minorias, principalmente judeus.

Nenhuma crítica política justifica manifestações de discurso de ódio — sejam eles de caráter misógino ou antissemita. Ações como essas são inaceitáveis em qualquer democracia e devem ser repudiadas por todos aqueles que se importam com os direitos humanos.

Neste domingo (16), o canal israelense N12 News divulgou registros do diário do terrorista Khaled Abu Akram obtidos pelas Forças de Defesa de Israel (IDF). O material descreve a forma que o Hamas explorava tanto infraestruturas civis quanto das Nações Unidas para operar na Faixa de Gaza.

Em um dos relatos de maio de 2024, por exemplo, Akram relata como foi preparar uma emboscada em uma escola após túneis na área terem sido bombardeados. Outro recorte mostra que o grupo pegou baterias da UNRWA, a agência da ONU para refugiados palestinos, e também removeu painéis solares da organização para que eles pudessem usar.

O documento evidencia, mais uma vez, que o Hamas não é uma ameaça apenas para os israelenses e que coloca em risco os próprios palestinos, cujos interesses afirma proteger.
