On October 7, 2023, Kibbutz Be’eri in southern Israel was home to around 1000 residents. That day, Hamas brutally attacked the kibbutz, murdering 101 innocent people and kidnapping 29, leaving the community devastated. With the return of murdered hostage Dror Or, there are now no hostages from Be’eri remaining in Gaza. May the memories of the victims forever be a blessing. 🕯️

In a remarkable medical innovation, an implantation surgery at Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa was completed using a bio-printed cornea consisting of human cells, created by the Israeli biotech company Precise Bio. Nesta semana, recebemos no Brasil o ex-primeiro-ministro israelense Naftali Bennett, que palestrou para mais de mil pessoas no Clube A Hebraica SP sobre “Esperança, Resiliência e Futuro em um Novo Oriente Médio”.

Em sua fala, ele refletiu sobre a importância da união da comunidade judaica internacional em tempos de crise: "Cada foguete que atingiu Israel também foi sentido aqui em São Paulo [...]. O 7 de Outubro nos lembrou que somos um só."

Esse é um lembrete importante de que os judeus, em sua coletividade, não podem ser responsabilizados pelas ações e decisões políticas de Israel. Embora, na prática, é isso o que acontece, já que uma das principais manifestações contemporâneas de antissemitismo acontecem por meio de supostas críticas ao país.

O evento ocorreu numa parceria entre StandWithUs Brasil, Universidade de Haifa, Beit Halochem e Hebraica SP, com apoio da Federação Israelita de São Paulo (FISESP), da Confederação Israelita do Brasil (CONIB) e do Departamento de Segurança Comunitária da Federação Israelita do Estado de São Paulo (DSC).

O jovem israelense Evyatar David foi sequestrado pelo grupo terrorista Hamas em 7 de outubro de 2023, ficando em cativeiro por mais de dois anos, sendo liberto apenas em outubro de 2025, após o mais recente acordo de cessar-fogo entre Israel e Hamas, mediado pelos Estados Unidos .

Poucos dias antes de sair do cativeiro, Evyatar teve um vídeo seu publicado pelo Hamas, no qual aparecia desnutrido e cavando a própria cova. As imagens chocaram o mundo e mostraram, mais uma vez, a crueldade do Hamas. Acreditava-se, inclusive, que ele não sobreviveria.

Agora livre, ele tem redescoberto o prazer e a liberdade de viver coisas simples do cotidiano, como viajar, ver um jogo ou simplesmente sair com amigos. Em suas redes sociais, ele tem celebrado com alegria a sua liberdade.

Criada pela The Duffer Brothers, "Stranger Things" é uma das séries de mais sucesso da Netflix e entrou em sua última temporada neste mês de novembro. No ar desde 2016, a produção conta com dois judeus no elenco: Noah Schnapp, que interpreta Will Byers, e Brett Gelman, que faz o papel de Murray Bauman. Ambos são abertamente sionistas e não se omitem em defender o direito de Israel de existir, especialmente após o 7 de Outubro.

Infelizmente, esses dois atores constantemente sofrem com campanhas de cancelamento devido ao antissemitismo de parte do público com viés anti-Israel. O que é ainda mais grave é o fato de isso seguir acontecendo, incoerentemente, mesmo no contexto do cessar-fogo entre Israel e Hamas. No caso do Noah, que assumiu sua homossexualidade em 2023, o antissemitismo do público pesa também pelo fato de vir de pessoas progressistas, que, supostamente, deveriam defendê-lo.
