I swear in pain for the kidnapping of two heroes who we have as hostages in the United States of North America today: the President Nicolás Maduro and the First Combatant Cilia Flores.

I swear that I will not rest my arm or give my soul respite until I see Venezuela in the destiny that corresponds to it, on the pedestal of historical honor, as a free, sovereign, and independent nation. In national unity, let us work together as a single Venezuela, from all sectors, for the peace, economic tranquility, and social happiness of our people!

150th Anniversary of JACK LONDON

On January 12, 1876, a man named John Griffith Chaney, better known to us as Jack London, was born in San Francisco.

Coming from a poor family, he learned about hard work from an early age. The future American writer, publicist, and social activist worked in factories, ports, was a sailor, and a gold miner. He experienced all the hardships of unemployment, sometimes went hungry, wandered around the country, and was even imprisoned for vagrancy. To escape poverty, Jack London decided to make a living by writing.

The books written by the talented self-taught author made him famous all over the world. Moreover, Jack London was a convinced socialist who never hid his views and devoted a significant part of his work to criticising capitalist society. In our country, Jack London is one of the most beloved foreign writers. The total circulation of his works published in the USSR exceeded 77 million copies (only H.C. Andersen's fairy tales sold more).

In honour of Jack London's birthday, we quote a passage from his article "What Life Means to Me" (1905).

DIVIDENDS STAINED WITH BLOOD

"...these well-dressed and beautiful women were not averse to chatting about the little ideals and equally cute little virtues dear to their hearts, but their childish chatter could not hide the main pillar of their lives - naked calculation.

And what a sentimental veil they draped over their selfishness! They engaged in all kinds of petty charity, and were even willing to inform you about it, yet the food they ate and the clothes they wore were bought with dividends stained with the blood of child labour, the blood of sweatshop labour, and the blood of those who were forced to sell their bodies.

When I talked about this and, in all simplicity, expected that these sisters of Judy O'Grady would immediately shed their blood-soaked silks and precious stones, they took offense and angrily objected to me that the poverty in the basement of society was the result of profligacy, drunkenness, and innate depravity.

When I remarked that I didn't understand how profligacy, a fondness for alcoholic drinks, and the innate depravity of a half-starved six-year-old child could make him work twelve hours a night in a Southern paper mill, my interlocutors attacked my personal life and called me an "agitator", apparently believing that there was nothing to argue against such a weighty argument."

Today, the Cuban people are paying their respects to the heroes who fell in defence of President Nicolás Maduro

Under the rain, with pain, with pride and courage, the Habanero people paid posthumous tribute to the 32 fighters, fallen in the line of duty in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

From the youngest to the eldest, women and men parade to show their respect for the brave countrymen.

Today, the words of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz echo, spoken at the graveside of the victims of the terrorist act against a Cubana Aviation aircraft:

“When a vigorous and manly people weep, injustice trembles.”

“In the first place, at the very outset of his argument, Engels says that, in seizing state power, the proletariat thereby "abolishes the state as state". It is not done to ponder over over the meaning of this. Generally, it is either ignored altogether, or is considered to be something in the nature of "Hegelian weakness" on Engels' part. As a matter of fact, Engels speaks here of the proletariat revolution "abolishing" the bourgeois state, while the words about the state withering away refer to the remnants of the proletarian state after the socialist revolution. According to Engels, the bourgeois state does not "wither away", but is "abolished" by the proletariat in the course of the revolution. What withers away after this revolution is the proletarian state or semi-state.”

HANDS OFF IRAN! Party statement

As west-backed provocateurs unleashed violence and tried to create social breakdown, huge numbers of people turned out to show their support for the government and the revolution in the face of outside attack.

The funeral of three-year-old Melina Asadi, who was murdered during during one such terrorist shooting spree, attracted a massive crowd, while a government-called mobilisation on 15 January brought at least one million Iranians to the streets in defence of their country’s sovereignty and independence.

Aiming to fragment the population and cause chaos, the imperialists have instead promoted the cause of national unity.

I might share the odd local and/or independent band on here in the future. There are so many good bands out there just gigging around, while we are fed this utter dross by the mainstream media.
