I just met with the Georgia Ports Authority at the Port of Savannah.
The Port of Savannah is a massive economic powerhouse in Georgia, generating $171 billion in sales per year and providing 609K jobs statewide.

Ports are part of our borders. As a member of the Homeland Security committee I wanted to see it firsthand.
Customs must inspect every single container arriving on our shores from abroad.
It’s a massive job, but it’s vital to keeping our nation safe and secure.
The Port of Savannah is the largest single container port in the western hemisphere.
The port moves 6 million containers a year and averages 14-15K transactions daily.
With its $171 billion in sales, the port brings in $40 billion in profits and $5.3 billion in state and local tax revenues.

As the largest single container port in the Western Hemisphere and the third largest in the U.S., the Port of Savannah handles trains up to 10,000 feet long, transporting cargo in and out of the port, including to the inland Appalachian Regional Port.
These trains provide significant relief to Georgia’s highways, which serve as a major artery along the East Coast.

In FY23, nearly 68,000 students were trained at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
As a gun owner, I especially enjoyed using one of the firearms division’s training simulators.
At the FLETC, they use around 21-23 million rounds of ammunition per year.
I was honored to join the men and women of the FLETC in Glynco, Georgia, this afternoon for a tour!
This 1,500-acre facility trains 128 federal agencies and partner organizations, including CBP, Secret Service, and the Coast Guard.
Thank you to Director Huffman and Deputy Director Baker for your hospitality this afternoon.
This premier federal law enforcement training facility is vital to the security of our nation. Best of all, it’s located right here in Georgia!
