The peace deal out of the Middle East is much-needed good news. The U.S. must now dedicate itself to ensuring this initial agreement marks the beginning of an enduring and just peace. My heart is with all the hostage families, the masses of suffering civilians of Gaza and all the families, Israelis and Palestinians, who have lost loved ones in this nightmare.

My heart breaks for this precious child, her family, teachers and friends and everyone grieving her loss. My family and I are sending love, condolences and sympathy to all touched by this catastrophe.

And the lawsuits will follow promptly. Government shutdowns give presidents no additional authority to dismiss federal workers. We’ll fight these outrageous assaults on civil servants and public services.
