Poland’s top constitutional court has quashed plans by Donald Tusk’s government to try the central bank governor - yet another blow to the new pro-EU admin elected late in 2022.

Governor Adam Glapinski cannot be suspended under parliament’s current rules, so lawmakers would need to pass a law requiring a three-fifths majority for a motion to pass, the same threshold as for cabinet members.

The move comes as Poland is rocked by political chaos, with a planned judiciary overhaul reversed, and the arrest of two nationalist MPs.

🥶Blizzard Decimates US Midwest – Millions Under Storm Warning

Planes were grounded at Chicago’s largest airport as a blizzard dumped snow and ice across the US on Friday.

The blizzard also caused headaches for Republican presidential candidates in Iowa ahead of Monday’s caucus, with at least one campaign forced to cancel events.

Nearly 30mn Americans, mostly in the Midwest and around the Great Lakes, are still under a severe storm warning – forecasters describing it as “life-threatening winter weather.”
