🌪Florida Braces for Potent Idalia – Cat 4 Hurricane Set to Hit with ‘Catastrophic Storm Surge’
Florida residents living in vulnerable coastal areas were ordered to pack up and leave as Hurricane Idalia gained strength in the Gulf of Mexico – with authorities warning of a “catastrophic storm surge and destructive winds” when the storm moves ashore Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service in Tallahassee called Idalia “an unprecedented event” since no major hurricanes on record have passed through the bay abutting the Big Bend - where the Florida Panhandle curves into the peninsula.
In preparation for rescue and repair efforts, about 5,500 National Guard troops have been activated and more than 30k utility workers are standing by ahead of the storm’s arrival.

A pilot evacuating from Tampa, Florida’s MacDill Air Force Base ahead of Idalia’s landfall can be seen flying an unidentified plane through storm clouds with nearly constant flashes of lightning in all directions.
A purple glow - the St. Elmo’s fire phenomenon - can be seen off the tips of the plane’s windshield wipers.
The phenomenon occurs when an atmospheric electrical field creates visible plasma off the end of rod-like objects like masts, chimneys, or, in the plane’s case, windshield wipers.

The Chandrayaan-3 has begun sending elemental composition data from the largely unexplored underbelly of the Earth's satellite.
It's also found aluminum, calcium, iron, chromium and titanium - along with the presence of silicon and oxygen.

New satellite images reveal Chinese troops have been digging tunnels and building reinforced bunkers at six locations in Aksai Chin, near the LAC – the line of actual control between 🇨🇳and 🇮🇳.
Reinforced personnel bunkers have earth raised around them to provide additional protection from aerial or missile attacks and entry and exit points designed in a forked
manner to dissipate the impact of bombardment.
The news comes just days after China claimed the area of Aksai Chin region in Ladakh and the state of Arunachal Pradesh as its own in their standard maps.

A new warning has been issued over hackers gaining full access to personal banking details. Trend Micro claims the new phishing scam enables screen recording and remote bank fraud.
Devices are infected via fake apps on websites disguised as official app stores. The Android banking trojan is near impossible to detect and has been targeting accounts since late June.
Most cases have so far been found in Southeast Asia - but MMRat is spreading fast.

A string of violent crime couldn't have been highlighted any better in Chicago... apart from the crew's camera was stolen.
The staff from Spanish outlet Univision were approached by three robbers wearing masks. They stole equipment and personal items. (Chicago Tribune)
No arrests have been made, and the footage... likely will not see the light of day. A wave of other similar robberies were reported on the same night and two carjackings.

A White House economist has lamented the expansion of the emerging economies bloc:
“Most of these countries are either key commodity producers, like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, or in the case of Ethiopia and Egypt, they are on the Red Sea that connects to the Suez Canal, which is a huge point of transit for a large range of commodities,” Jo Sullivan said.
Not only does it allow for further national currency trade, ditching the dollar, it massively ramps up BRICS' wealth of fossil fuels with Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Argentina has been pushing to ditch the 💵 and save its reserves.
With Egypt and Ethiopia, they offer key transport locations for global trade via the Suez Canal. Iran, can also offer years of expert knowledge in dodging Western sanctions.
