Yesterday morning, the Kurdish guerrillas (HPG) announced that the Turkish military has launched a new offensive in northern Iraq. In a press release, the HPG explained that the villages in the Metîna region have been continuously bombed since April 16. This is an attempt to occupy the Medya defense Zones (mountains of Southern Kurdistan/Northern Iraq) step by step.
The Congress of the Democratic Kurdish Society in Europe (KCDK-E) is now calling for protests against the Turkish invasion of Metina "to strengthen resistance against the policies of aggression, massacres and occupation practiced by the Turkish state in order to protect the future"
The Turkish AKP-MHP regime has shortly after the municipal elections in Turkey announced to launch further military operations in Southern Kurdistan/Northern Iraq and is also threatening Rojava/Northeastern Syria with a ground invasion.

On the day Turkey began its invasion against Metîna, Turkish flags were hung in Erbil to mark Erdoğan's visit.
Erdoğan will visit Iraq today, and then is expected to go to Erbil. The KDP decorated the streets of Erbil with Turkish flags out of love for Erdoğan.
The president of the Turkish occupying state, Recep Tayyib Erdoğan, is visiting Iraq today, but instead of Iraq, the PDK is excited. The KDP hung the flags of the Turkish occupying state on the main streets of Erbil to welcome the fascist leader who opposes the Kurdish people, Erdoğan.
The KDP hung the flags of the fascist state of Turkey on most of Erbil's main roads, bridges, skyscrapers and roads.

Belgian police raid Kurdish television studios
Tonight at around 02:00 Belgian police broke into the studios of the Kurdish television stations Medya Haber and Sterk Tv in Denderleeuw. Without prior notice, hundreds of police stormed the studios of Sterk TV and Medya Haber, breaking down doors and ransacking the building. Sterk TV reported that cables were cut and equipment damaged, leading to a blockade of television broadcasting.
At a time when Turkey is launching military offensives in South Kurdistan, killing Kurdish civilians in Rojava with drones and announcing the invasion of Shengal, the actions of the Belgian state are complicit in these crimes.
Sterk TV spokesperson: "This attack is a part of the genocidal concept of the Turkish occupation" & "With this attack they want to silence the voice of the Kurdish people"

Banner in solidarity with Kurdish guerrillas displayed during football match in Italy
A banner reading "Biji Guerila" (Long Live the Guerrilla) was displayed during a football match of Hic Sunt Leones team in Bologna.
The day chosen by the activists was not random as the liberation of the city from Nazism is celebrated on 21 April. The sports center is in fact named after Mauro Pizzoli, nom de guerre "Pzulein", a partisan barbarously killed by the Nazis on 29 October 1944 at the age of 20. The day was also characterized by the cowardly attack of Turkish fascist forces in the Metina region with air forces and artillery.
From the activists statement:
"Times change but ideals don't. Just as fascism doesn't change. They wear different names and clothes but retain the same ideas of murder and destruction as always. 'Biji Gerila' is, therefore, not just a banner but a message of full sharing and absolute closeness to the Kurdish partisans."

April 25: Memorial Day for the Fallen of North and East Syria
Since 2021, April 25 has been considered "Memorial Day for the Fallen of North and East Syria".
The date marks a profound turning point in the Rojava Revolution, as it was on this day in 2017 that Turkey bombed the headquarters of the YPG and YPJ on Mount Qereçox.
To date, North and East Syria has recorded more than 11,000 casualties in the fight against terror and occupation. In addition, there are well over 20,000 war wounded.

UPDATE on invasion in Metîna
Since April 21st a large scale invasion is underway in the Metîna region in Southern Kurdistan. Initial fighting on the ground followed a days long bombing campaign. Now after the Turkish invaders have made some minor gains, they are again relying mostly on air raids and artillery shelling while fighting on the ground has decreased.
HPG-Guerrilla: "We have shared initial information about the Turkish occupation army's attack in the Metina region. In the current situation, the Turkish occupation army has established itself in some places in the areas of Şelaz, Kanîreş and Yekmal in the Metina region and has come to a standstill there. It relies on war technology and rains bombs on the battlefield. PDK forces have also taken 3 points to secure the road between Yekmal and Girê Amediyê. The forces of the Turkish occupation state pass these three roads."

Massive criticism of raids on Kurdish media stations
Following the night-time raids on Kurdish exile broadcasters in Belgium, criticism of the police operation is mounting.
In a joint statement, the European Federation of Journalists and the Flemish Association of Journalists write of attempts to intimidate the media and call for the facts of the case to be clarified.
Among other things, police interference in press matters is subject to strict restrictions. In Belgium, investigative authorities are generally only allowed to request information from press organs for the "prevention of crimes that pose a serious threat to physical integrity", and such searches are subject to even stricter rules, which have obviously been violated.
Even the former Belgian Interior Minister Vande Lanotte spoke of a disproportionate operation.
Protests against the searches have been announced for midday today in Brussels and Paris.

People's Defense Forces (HPG) statement on the current war in South Kurdistan:
Turkish occupation army is trying to gain a foothold in Metîna with the support of KDP collaborators: Airborne troops were dropped on Girê Şehîd Ezda (Mountaintop) At the same time, shovel excavators were moved from the KDP-controlled town of Qedîşê to Golka.
HPG: "There are currently occupation troops on the hills of Şehîd Hesen, Şehîd Sorxwîn, Şehîd Ezda and Şehîd Dilbirîn, which belong to Golka. The occupation operation in Metîna, which was launched on April 16, has thus been expanded and entered a new stage."
Regarding the situation in the Heftanîn region, HPG announced that Iraqi troops were stationed in Girê Pîrbila, Neqeba Şabanîkê & Şeranîş.
The move of Iraqi troops close to Guerrilla held territories comes after Turkey and Iraq signed Security cooperation agreement last week. Turkey is using economic pressure in an attempt to pull Iraq into open confrontation with the PKK Guerrillas.
