Update from the ground ROJAVA

▪️Yesterday the Turkish occupiers carried out 2 dronestrikes in the city of Kobane killing an activist from Southkurdistan that came to the city when it was besieged by ISIS in 2014. Ekrem Üstek, a father of two was with the Kurdish freedom movement for a long time before coming to Rojava
▪️Many villages of Shehba, in the Kanton of Afrin are under intense artillery and mortar shelling by the fascist Turkish occupiers and their mercenaries.
While YPG/YPJ reaffirmed their promise to liberate Afrin, the Afrin Liberation Forces (HRE) are carrying out actions regularly, delivering heavy blows to the fascist Turkish states forces in the last weeks
▪️On the basis of the Youth structures mobilization against Turkish invasion attacks, 50 young people from Rojava joined the guerrilla ranks
▪️Anti-terror units of the Syrian Democratic Forces took out numerous ISIS sleeper cells and captured a leading member in the city of Raqqa. ISIS activities have significantly increased recently

Update from the ground SOUTHERNKURDISTAN
▪️The situation in Shengal has calmed down after a agreement between the local autonomous administration and the Iraqi state was made. The treacherous KDP stated that they only accept a solution according to the agreement of 9th of October 2020, which aims at disarming Yazidi Forces and removing the self-administration structures. Protest against the Iraqi military presence are ongoing. The will of the people has to be recognized. Otherwise resistance in any form is legitimate!
▪️The resistance in Zap and Avasin is being continued with success. Heavy battles are fought especially at Kurojahro and Sehid Sahin in Zap. At Werxele in the Avasin region the fascist Turkish invaders were not getting any results and therefore started to use chemical weapons again. The Turkish occupiers are constantly being attacked by mobile Gerila-units who seem to have a lot of success. They resist with great moral and new creative tactics to deliver blows to the enemy. Even attacks on Turkish bases on Kurdish territory were carried out with success.
▪️ Today reports emerged stating that the resistance shot down a helicopter of the fascist occupation forces

Marlene and Matej still imprisoned in Iraq

The two journalists, who were in Shengal to document the situation of the Yazidi population, are still in custody. Their friends and family members have started a petition calling on the public, the media and politicians to work for the release of Matej and Marlene. So far, no charges have been officially filed against the two. The arrest is not only an attack on press freedom, but also an attack on the people of Shengal. The Iraqi government is trying to prevent public attention to the situation in Shengal and its intention to bring the region under its control. In doing so, it is completely ignoring the will of the people of Shengal.

A British delegation has spent months documenting chemical weapons attacks by Turkish forces in southern Kurdistan. The responsible authority OPCW, however, blocks the investigation of the incidents. "Once again the OPCW has slammed the door in our faces. By refusing to meet and receive my evidence they have shown once more that they are nothing more than a tool of the imperialist powers.” stated Steve Sweeny who collected evidence in Southern Kurdistan.
Sources close to the HPG (People's Defence Forces) state that Turkey has carried out more than 44 attacks with chemical weapons on Tuesday alone. HPG demanded that Turkish war crimes shouldn't be downplayed as a normal state of affairs.
The OPCW self proclaimed goal is a world free of chemical weapons. By its inaction though, the OPCW covers up Turkish war crimes in Kurdistan.
