YPG/YPJ: Self Defense in Rojava
Founded in 2011 the YXG, the kurdish self-defense forces, aimed to protect kurdish areas and people against the Assad regime and jihadist gangs in the beginning of the Syrian civil war. They quickly evolved into YPG (Yekineyen Parastina Gel) the peoples defense units in 2012 and officially declared the foundation of the womens protection units YPJ (Yekineyen Parastina Jin) in 2013.
YPJ is an autonomous women´s military structure and a strong force in the general liberation of women in Rojava and Northeast-Syria.

Attacks on Rojava continue
More than a week after the major wave of airstrikes on the democratic self-administration in northern and eastern Syria, the attacks on the region by Turkey are continuing.
News agencies from the region have since reported several attacks along the entire border every day. In the enclave of Şehba, south of occupied Afrin, as well as in Minbic and Kobanê, attacks by Turkish drones and ground troops along the border are increasing. The militias allied with Turkey have also stepped up their activities recently.
Further west, a drone attack on internal security forces killed a member of the Asayish and injured others.
In addition, Syrian army bases were attacked, also resulting in injuries.
At the same time, there is increasing speculation about a withdrawal of US troops from Syria and Iraq.

According to the Guerrilla five fighters were martyred due to the more then 40 attacks with chemical weapons in November/December 2023.
Earlier in January Turkey reportedly bombed civilian homes & stables in villages in the Duhok governance claiming these are "PKK centres". Turkey is increasingly trying to cut off Guerrilla from society & for this uses intimidation & direct attacks on civilians
In large scale bombing campaigns Turkey destroyed huge parts of critical infrstructure in Rojava/North-Eastern Syria in October, December and January:

We call on all progressive and revolutionary forces to participate in the large demonstration on February 17 in Cologne on the anniversary of the abduction of Abdullah Öcalan with action and determination in the internationalist bloc.
The allies of Turkish fascism, especially the German state, do not hesitate to become its accomplices.
We must counter this with our own revolutionary perspective and advance our organization step by step - against imperialist barbarism!

Turkey kills female anti-IS fighters

Two female commanders of the YPJ were murdered on Sunday in a drone attack in Qamişlo on a facility of the Federation of the War Disabled. According to the women's defense units, they were Sorxwîn Rojhilat and Azadî Dêrik.
Both had been active in the fight against IS for years. Sorxwîn Rojhilat had come to Syria from Iran as a volunteer to fight against IS and was seriously injured in the fight in Kobanê, almost leaving her completely blind.
Turkey also attacked again on Monday, this time a car in the city center of Qamişlo. According to initial information, one person was murdered. It was initially unclear who it was. Other people are said to have been injured.

Members of the Young Women's Movement killed - Fierce fighting in South Kurdistan
Today it was announced that the young female guerrilla fighters Bişeng Brûsk and Sara Hogir Riha were killed in a Turkish airstrike on July 28. Both were members of the Coordination of the Young Women's Association (Komalên Jinên Ciwan) and participated in the Kurdish Young Women's Movement in all parts of Kurdistan.
The Youth Committee of the PKK, to which Bişeng Brûsk herself belonged, declared about their work: "Both of them have made a valuable contribution and great efforts for the development of Democratic Youth Confederalism and World Women's Confederalism".
Fierce fighting continues in the Turkish-occupied areas of the southern Kurdish mountains. Following the guerrilla offensives at the end of December and beginning of January, another large-scale operation has taken place in recent days in which 37 soldiers were killed and positions, including residential containers, were largely destroyed.
