The Harsh Reality of Our Generation’s Career Struggles
In the profession I’m in now, I see doctors, surgeons, engineers, chemical engineers, dentists, college graduates, TVET students, and mechanics—people from all walks of life who once dedicated years to mastering their craft. But what’s heartbreaking is that many are abandoning their fields to chase stability and financial security.
Doctors spend 7–9 years in medical school, yet many no longer want to work in medicine. Engineers are looking for other opportunities. Professors with PhDs are leaving universities because their salaries are too low, and they’ve lost motivation to teach the next generation. The passion that once drove people to these careers seems to be fading.
I’m not saying seeking financial stability is wrong. It’s a necessity in today’s world. But it’s sad that our generation is forced to prioritize survival over passion. The truth is, many young people don’t know where to go. Even when they do, they are hesitant to take risks.
If you have the rare privilege of learning what you love, take a moment to appreciate those who suffered to give you that chance. Not everyone has that luxury. But regardless of your circumstances, don’t just follow the crowd. Instead, follow logic and reason.
Equip yourself with valuable skills. No matter what career path you choose, be smart about it. If you're in tech, push yourself to learn and grow. Be the best in multiple skills. Don’t give up. Take risks. Create opportunities.
Don’t let society’s norms and expectations define your life. Don’t do something just because it makes others happy or boosts your ego. Titles like “doctor” or “lawyer” may sound impressive, but if they don’t align with your purpose, they’re meaningless.
Be responsible for your own growth. Don’t let emotions or external pressures dictate your choices. The world is tough, but those who adapt, take risks, and invest in their skills will find a way forward.

Scars of Victory
In my days at military camp, I met warriors—heroes who had faced the fire and lived to tell their stories. Some bore scars, reminders of battles fought and won. But those scars no longer hurt; they stood as proof of resilience, of victories claimed, of enemies defeated. They were still standing.
No matter who you are, if you’re in a battle—whether on the field or in life—remember this: the good days are near, but they won’t come without a fight. You must endure. You must overcome. And yes, you may walk away with bruises, scars, and pain. But pain is temporary. Wounds heal. The battle will pass.
As Tupac once said:
"I wish I could take the pain away
If you make it through the night, there’s a brighter day
Everything will be alright if you hold on…
Hold on. Be strong."
